- Lead a team assisting youth justice in managing its OHS responsibilities
People and Culture's core functions span the breadth of workplace cultural and people matters, including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment, redeployment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; occupational health and safety management; and employment regulations.
The two Youth Justice Custodial Precincts in Victoria, comprising two youth justice centres in each, are the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct located approximately 100 kilometres north of Melbourne, and the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct located in inner northern Melbourne.
Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 10-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.
About the role
As the Team Leader, you will lead a team of OHS Advisers to provide support to youth justice managers in managing their OHS obligations, guide the implementation of OHS initiatives and monitor the OHS management system.
You will be based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct though regular regional travel to the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct is required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- experience in the application of OHS legislation, codes of practice and regulations, and identifying OHS risks and developing, implementing and evaluating preventative strategies
- experience consulting management and staff to ensure outcomes in health and safety, change management and related workplace improvement initiatives
- the ability to successfully lead a team to achieve organisational priorities
- a full and current driver's licence.
A relevant tertiary qualification in OHS, and auditor qualifications in OHS or Work, Health & Safety systems are also highly desirable.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) card to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
